Myfxbook Alternatives for EA Traders: Per-EA Stats Compared

Short answer: Most "Myfxbook alternative" lists are written by trading-journal companies, for discretionary traders. If you run EAs, the questions are different. Can it split results by magic number? Does it show equity drawdown or only closed-trade drawdown? Do you have to hand over your investor password or upload your history? Here's a fair comparison, including where we're not the best choice.

Key takeaways

  • Myfxbook is still the best free option for a public, verified track record, and it does filter by magic number.
  • FX Blue is a strong free web alternative with per-magic "Strategy" stats.
  • QuantAnalyzer is the deep-analysis tool for backtests and portfolios.
  • Local, on-chart trackers (VRD Insight, Magic Stats) keep your data on your PC but prove nothing to anyone else.

Prices and features checked 24 Oct 2026 from each vendor's pages. They change, so check before you buy. VRD makes VRD Insight; we've tried to be fair to everyone else.

Myfxbook: still the default for proof

Free, with a public verified-account system, community and widgets. "Filter By Magic" analyses each EA separately if you connect with the Myfxbook EA and AutoUpdate. Prop Shield tracks daily loss, static or trailing max loss, profit targets and consistency, with warning thresholds. Trade-off: your history lives on Myfxbook's servers. Verification needs your investor password and broker server, and some features, such as faster updates, are paid. Pick it if you need to show results to followers, investors or a prop firm.

FX Blue Live: the free web alternative

Free. A Publisher EA uploads your trades, and the Stats → Strategy tab compares EAs by magic number (turn on PublishMagicNumbers). It can exclude symbols or magics and delay publication. Trade-off: it needs an FX Blue login, WebRequest enabled and an upload, and it has no prop rule tracking. Pick it if you want rich free web stats per EA.

MQL5 Signals: public, not per-EA

Great for showing a real account publicly (it's what most EA vendors use). It shows relative drawdown by balance and equity. Trade-off: it's account level only, so it won't split EAs. It needs a real account, the investor password and leverage of 1:500 or less.

QuantAnalyzer: for backtests and portfolios

A Windows desktop app. It loads MT5 backtests and statements, runs Monte Carlo, What-If and money-management simulations, and splits by magic number through an export script. The free version limits some tools (e.g. 4 strategies in Portfolio Master). Pick it for research before you go live. It isn't a live tracker.

Journals: Edgewonk, TradesViz

Built for discretionary review: tags, mistakes, psychology, replay. TradesViz lists prop firm compliance on paid plans. Trade-off: for pure EA tracking you're paying for features you won't use.

Local on-chart trackers: VRD Insight and Magic Stats

Both are free MT5 tools that read your history on your own PC and group it by magic number. Nothing gets uploaded and there's no password to share. - VRD Insight: per-EA net profit, max drawdown (closed-trade basis), profit factor, win rate and expectancy, an equity/drawdown curve (today, week, month, all time) and open exposure per EA and currency. It's read-only, with no web requests and nothing to configure. - Magic Stats (from AlgoVerdict, free since Oct 2026): per-magic stats with CSV export. It says plainly that its drawdown is closed-trade only.

Where Insight is not the right tool: - It can't verify a track record publicly. - It doesn't alert you or enforce limits. - It doesn't track prop rules. - It only works inside MT5 on the machine where it runs.

For limits and alerts, VRD Guardian ($79) is the equity protector and drawdown limiter, with user-set news and risky-day windows. Guardian makes a best-effort attempt to limit losses and protect an account in difficulty using predefined rules. It cannot guarantee that losses will be avoided or that an account can be rescued. Gaps, slippage, broker or connectivity failures can prevent rules executing. Trading carries a high risk of loss.

The one thing to check in any tool: which drawdown?

Closed-trade drawdown only counts losses once trades close. A grid or recovery EA can show a smooth closed-trade curve while carrying a large floating loss. In our backtests of a popular MQL5 recovery EA, the max equity drawdown at 0.85 lots ($8,399) was well above the max balance drawdown ($5,062). See why smooth equity curves fail.

Which should you use?

  • Prove results: Myfxbook or MQL5 Signals.
  • Free web stats per EA: FX Blue (or Myfxbook with magic filtering).
  • Private per-EA stats in MT5: VRD Insight or Magic Stats.
  • Backtest and portfolio research: QuantAnalyzer, or VRD Quant ($69) for EA capital sizing.
  • Several EAs sharing one account: see running multiple EAs on one MT5 account.

Start free: VRD Insight

Begin with VRD Insight, the free per-EA tracker for MT5, sold through the MQL5 Market. It splits your results by magic number so you can see which EA is earning and which is costing you (drawdown is calculated from closed trades). When you need more: 1. VRD Guardian ($79 or $25/month): loss limits per account and per EA. 2. VRD Quant ($69 or $20/month): turns a backtest into a capital plan. 3. VRD Complete ($149 or $35/month): all three, plus EA Passports and a central reserve.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Myfxbook alternative?

It depends on the job. To prove a track record publicly, stay with Myfxbook or MQL5 Signals. For free web analytics by magic number, FX Blue. For deep backtest and portfolio analysis, QuantAnalyzer. For private per-EA stats inside MT5 without uploading anything, a local tracker such as VRD Insight or Magic Stats.

Can Myfxbook show statistics per EA?

Yes. Myfxbook's Custom Analysis can filter by magic number when you connect with the Myfxbook EA and AutoUpdate.

Do I need to give my investor password to track an EA?

For a verified public track record on Myfxbook or MQL5 Signals, yes. That's how they verify it. For private tracking, no: local MT5 tools read your history on your own computer.

Is closed-trade drawdown the same as equity drawdown?

No. Closed-trade drawdown ignores losses on open positions. For grid and recovery EAs, the equity drawdown can be several times larger. Check which one a tool shows.

Which tools track prop firm rules?

Myfxbook's Prop Shield tracks daily loss, static or trailing max loss, targets and consistency with warnings. TradesViz lists prop firm compliance on its paid plans. VRD Insight doesn't; loss limits are the job of VRD Guardian.

One EA blowup costs more than the whole suite.

VRD Complete contains single-EA blowups and frees capital you have parked as idle buffers. $149 at launch pricing.
